Basilicata Region

REGION OF BASILICATA – DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE, RURAL DEVELOPMENT, MOUNTAIN ECONOMY

Within the Program INTERREG III C South Zone, the Region is:

1. Lead Partner of the Regional Framework Operation (RFO) "MODELE - Modéle de developpement des systémes locaux pour the soutiens des Entreprises" in partnership with Greek, Spanish, Hungarian and Slovak Regions.

2. Partner of the Regional Framework Operation "MEDITERRITAGE - Valorisation économique du patrimoine naturel et culturel des montagnes méditerranéennes” with other 12 Regions among which Greek, French, Spanish Regions for the Countries Members, and together with 5 Regions of the Third Countries.

As it regards Interreg III B - MedOcc (2000-2006) the Region participates as Partner in three projects on the subjects of the desertification and on the forecasts of the meteorological risks, and is Lead Partner in a project approved in the last call (April 2004) "MIREDAF" on the theme of the exploitation of the Mediterranean homemade cheeses in partnership with Spanish and French Regions.

She furthermore participates as partner in the European project INTERREG III B CADSES / “Agriculture and Climate Changes: how to Reduce human Effects and Threats”.

Another remarkable initiative of transnational cooperation is the program Twinning: in 2002 the Region of Basilicata supported the central government of Hungary and the Hungarian Regions in the planning of the Structural Funds and, in 2003 started a new Twinning Program with the Czech Republic.

The Region Basilicata has also matured important experiences in the management of the programs Interreg II C (1994-99) participating, within the pilot action Archimed, as Lead Partner, to the project "2.2 Miglioramento dell’ambiente come fattore di sviluppo dello spazio Mediterraneo" in partnership with the Greek Ministry of the Environment, and to other two projects as partner on environmental themes and tourist promotion. Within the program INTERREG II C MedOcc the Region has been partner of four projects on the different subjects: territorial structure, parks, recovery of the historic centres and of the landscape.
